10. TWN4 P version and PI version: How should I choose?
Our TWN4 readers come in three versions: Standard, P version, and PI version.
The latter two versions add extra features on top of the standard reader.
P Version
This version extends the range of supported LF transponders (125kHz), including: Cotag, G-Prox6,
HID DuoProx II, HID ISO Prox II, HID MicroProx, HID ProxKey III, HID Prox, HID Prox II, Indala, ioProx, Nexwatch.
PI Version
This option expands support for HID iClass cards by enabling access to the locked portion of the
memory in the TWN4 reader. If customers wish to read the printed numbers on HID iClass cards, they
need the TWN4 reader with the PI option. The printed numbers are part of the PAC (Physical Access Control)
numbers stored in the HID iClass card's memory.
An additional chip known as the SE processor is crucial for this function. Once inserted into the SAM slot,
this chip can read the PAC. Additionally, if customers have HID iClass SEOS cards, only the
reader with the PI option can read these cards, as the UIDs of the above card technology are random.
Note: TWN4 standard and P option enabled readers can only read the UIDs of HID iClass cards,
not the numbers printed on them.
